2016 to date, has been a real mixture of ups and downs.
Sadly the Boxing Day floods badly affected one of my much loved stockists – Heart Gallery in Hebden Bridge. They are going through a long drying out process, but are determined to be back ready for the sunshine months to come. Good luck to Alison and her team and indeed to all businesses devastated by flooding. There’s never been a more crucial time to start supporting independent businesses and with this in mind, I made my New Year’s Resolution to shop with more independents!
On a second trip to Hebden since the floods, when it was simply pouring with rain again, there were cafes open and a good mix of shops re opening , some had pop-up shops within other shops as a temporary measure. Pay them a visit just as soon as you can, they need to know they are not forgotten!
Daisy Florence Design now has a new stockist ‘Summerhouse’ in Leeds at the magnificent Corn Exchange.
The Corn Exchange has undergone management changes over the last few years, not all positive, however I was delighted to see that there are now many new independent shops back under the Corn Exchange roof! It really is a fantastic place to visit and pick up something a little different from what you’d find on the high street and, of course, to see the breathtaking architecture of the building!
I am delighted to announce that I was selected for a complimentary stand at Handmade Sheffield in May – an exciting opportunity and I am waiting to hear further news about the event which I will share with you just as soon as I can!
